Top Picks: August 15 – 17, 2014

Places to take kids in Elgin IL, Fox Valley eventsHello and happy weekend! How have you done on your “bucket list” this summer? With another season winding down, sometimes it’s good to make a list (I’m a chronic list maker) of all the places you went so you can see that your summer actually was COOL!

What’s on my list? Pool – western town – amusement park – mini zoo – many playgrounds (3 new ones we had not tried before) – trip to Michigan – mini golf – Cantigny Park – movie in park – movie in theater – Millenium Park – ice cream – LEGOLAND – parade – and many of the events I shared in my Top Picks these past couple of months. And, it has been fun meeting many of you in passing this summer, when I’ve slipped you my “mommy card” to tell you about my blog.

StCBT_StCBT_JSFamilyFun_BlogAs we start to head towards a new season, I wanted to let you know that Mommy By The River will start to look a bit different here and there as I implement some much needed changes. I will still have the same content you have come to rely on for your family fun, but hope to refresh the look a bit and get my “Top Picks” to you earlier to allow you to plan for your weekend. And now….let’s get on with my picks!

In my Top Picks this weekend, you won’t want to miss out on the St. Charles Bank & Trust Company Family Fun Day, featuring Cold-Blooded Creatures. Then, head to the Elgin Public Museum’s Bat Hike to learn all about these nocturnal creatures! Best of all, the events listed below are all FREE or CHEAP! And if they ask who sent you…tell them The Mommy did!
