LKF-Ads-Web-IntraSportsComplex-728x90-web(2)

Maxwell_reader_photoI’m gearing up for a great Superbowl weekend! With my Christmas tree firmly packed away (thanks to my husband), I am ready to jump into major snackage mode for the big game. I’m really more interested in the commercials and the good eats, but don’t let that get around!

Please keep sending me photos of your kids! They may get featured in a future blog post as my “Top Picks Models!” Send your best winter or Valentine’s Day type photo to editor@mommybytheriver.com and include their first name(s) and age(s).

In my Top Picks for January 30 – February 1, 2015, go to a winter carnival, see the Science Of Snow display, enjoy a movie, go ice skating, or play soccer. Best of all, the events listed are all FREE or CHEAP! And if they ask who sent you…tell them ‘The Mommy’ did!

DISCLAIMER: Although I am careful to report accurate dates and times as they are provided, I realize that sometimes I receive inaccurate information, events may be cancelled or I simply make a boo boo. I strongly encourage you to confirm the information before heading out and/or to click the link that is provided for each activity to check the details.

Top Picks: January 23 – 25, 2015

LKF-Ads-Web-IntraSportsComplex-728x90-web(2)

Mommy By The River

I hope you had a great week! I am so glad it warmed up a bit so I could put on my snow pants (yes, I looked and felt like a marshmallow) and go out and play with my son. We finally got to use the snow block maker that we had bought a couple of months ago and try to build a snow fort! If you didn’t have time to play in the snow, never fear. We still have plenty of winter left!

In my Top Picks for January 23-25, 2015, break some boards and do karate, sing with a princess, see the science of snow display, enjoy a movie, and enjoy ice skating, swimming or playing soccer.

Top Picks: January 16 – 18, 2015

LKF-Ads-Web-IntraSportsComplex-728x90-web(2)

Maxwell_reader_photoWelcome to my blog…so glad you joined me this weekend! True confession: I still haven’t put away our Christmas decorations yet…nor have we finished sending our thank you notes for gifts. I was so proud that I jumped into the holiday season with shopping and preparations way ahead of schedule, yet now I find myself way behind. But I’m giving myself some grace…and if you find yourself in the same boat, you should give yourself grace too! As parents, we have a many priorities to juggle such as wiping noses, playing trucks, tickle-fests, bedtime stories and making lunches. And if you don’t want to go out to do anything fun this weekend, that’s okay too! Being together as a family is what counts.

In my Top Picks for January 16-18, 2015 enjoy a winter fest, see the science of snow display, a movie, ice skating, swimming, and soccer. Best of all, the events listed are all FREE or CHEAP! And if they ask who sent you…tell them ‘The Mommy’ did!

Martinez_top_picks_revisedMerry Christmas and a very happy weekend to you all! I hope you enjoy spending time with your kids making memories over this wonderful holiday! As we approach the end of 2014, I want you to know that it has been a blessing to share this year with you–and I look forward to all of the “new” adventures that 2015 brings with it.

As you review my “Picks” for this weekend, you will note that there are fewer options– typical of a holiday weekend. However, I do encourage you to check out the Saturday line-up. Foss Swim School has a fabulous Family Swim just for my readers….so enjoy!

In my Top Picks for December 26-28, 2014 enjoy swimming, movies, ice skating, holiday lights, cookie decorating, and a special exhibit on international traditions.
